Everyone goes through a lot of stress these days. With the economic crisis that cripples most nations we are faced with the pressure to find other ways of earning to provide for our families. In turn our body and mind is filled with so much stress that at some point we feel like breaking down. But doing so will not help solve our problems nor make it go away. What we can do is to relieve stress and recharge ourselves to become better equipped to take on the challenges that life will bring.
After a week’s worth of hard work and stress there are several ways which you can do to get that most deserved relaxation time you have waited for. Treat yourself every once in a while to avoid being burned out. Follow some of these treatments and therapies that can relieve you of stress.
- Avoid stress as much as you can. Stress can be avoidable if you know how to plan and organize your tasks. Avoid cramming for a project by effectively planning ahead of time. By planning you can anticipate potential setbacks and problems and you will be able to allocate ample time for tasks.
- Be happy. Even though you’ve got a million things to do listed out in front of you and you don’t seem to know what to take on first you should not worry too much and panic. Reassure yourself that you can do it. Have a positivse outlook. Don’t get frustrated by the amount of work and the little time given to finish the tasks. Keep in mind that frowning takes more muscles to contract than smiling therefore contributing to the stress.
- Meditate and have some quiet time. Meditation helps in clearing your mind. When you have a clear mind you will notice that you become more focused and organized. Goals are met because your foresight is set on its completion and distractions are avoided or set aside.
- Take a break or a breather. Running around trying to catch up with your busy schedule will really leave you breathless, literally. Stop and take a break. Have a cup of coffee to boost your energy or just sit down and close your eyes to rest and recharge.
- Have adequate rest and sleep. Working for 8 hours a day takes a toll on the body especially if your work involves a lot of thinking, analysis or physical movement. Avoid working over time as this will definitely wear you out. When you get home avoid thinking or worrying about work, instead enjoy your time with your family or if you live alone have some enjoy time by doing something you love like playing video games, watching tv, or reading. And when it’s time for bed make sure you get at least 6 to 7 hours of sleep to recharge you for the next working day.
- Eat healthy foods and watch your weight. Stress can make a person overeat because when the mind is tired it automatically signals the brain to eat to compensate. After doing so the mind still thinks that it is tired and will signal the body to rest. In reality the body is not really tired physically but since the brain thinks so the body will follow. Overeating without much physical activity to burn the calories gained will lead to obesity which can further expose an individual to various health conditions like heart problems and diabetes.
